How long do they last?

I often hear this question as it pertains to various components of a home.  Dishwasher, stove, roof, driveway, broadloom, laminate floor, back deck, furnace etc. are all asked about.

For example, If the dishwasher was new in 2005, you can look at this reference guide and see that the typical lifespan for a dishwasher is 9 years. So you've got an idea that you'll be replacing it in about 4 years.

If you're thinking of buying a home that's including the washer and dryer, and you determine from this list that these particular ones are near the end of their lifespan , you know you should offer less than if they were bought in the last year or two.
